Connecting hinterland logistics hubs and corridors
PILOTS aims to kick-start the first full connected Physical Internet community
01 Architecture
PILOTS aims to create a modular and scalable architecture that enables logistics stakeholders to connect, share, and orchestrate processes seamlessly. This includes developing connectors, identity systems, and event-based data sharing tools to support decentralized collaboration.
02 Secure data sharing
The project focuses on making logistics services easily discoverable through standardized metadata and federated catalogs. It also ensures secure, privacy-preserving data exchange using decentralized identities and verifiable credentials.
03 Process sharing
PILOTS introduces a system for sharing logistics processes as event streams between stakeholders. This enables real-time coordination and transparency across supply chains without relying on centralized platforms.
04 Living Lab validation
Real-world logistics flows—like container import and reuse—will be tested in Living Labs. These environments help validate the architecture, governance models, and technical components in practical settings.
05 Ontologies & standards
The project will harmonize logistics capabilities and workflows using linked open data and semantic ontologies. This ensures consistent representation and interoperability across diverse logistics systems.
06 Governance
PILOTS explores governance frameworks and compensation mechanisms to support community-driven logistics networks. It also promotes stakeholder onboarding and engagement through demonstrations and thematic events.
The PI toolbox (coming soon!)
The PI Toolbox is a curated set of open, modular components designed to help logistics stakeholders join the Physical Internet. It provides the technical building blocks, governance tools, and onboarding materials needed to connect companies and assets to a decentralized logistics ecosystem. The toolbox empowers you to get started quickly and confidently on the Physical Internet.
